Taroky is a point trick game - the object is to take tricks containing valuable cards.
It is played in the Czech Republic...especially Moravia and also in Slovakia. It is also popular in Czech communities in the US including those in Texas and Nebraska.
A Taroky Tournament has been held at WESTFEST for many years and is a very popular attraction. The tournament is open to all interested Taroky players, ladies and gentlemen, 16 years of age and older. Entry fee is $25 per person. It is held in the West Community Center across the street from WESTFEST.
Most participants pre-register prior to the festival. However, if there are available slots the day of the tournament, registration will occur on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. and play will start at 9:00 a.m. Kolaches and coffee will be served during registration.
Lunch is included in the registration fee and will be served at the community center. Play will continue for all players throughout the tournament. Play should conclude about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
